Questions

The things people ask

Does my child need a gym?+

No. The intake form asks what they can actually reach, and the programme is written to that. We have written programmes for full gyms, for a garage with two dumbbells, and for nothing but body weight and a field.

Which sports do you work with?+

Any of them. The programme is built from the demands of the sport and the position, so rugby, water polo, swimming, athletics, netball, football, hockey, cricket and tennis all work. Our current athletes play water polo and rugby.

How much time does it take each week?+

The training itself depends on the phase and the sport, and it is written around their existing team sessions rather than on top of them. The only admin is a weekly check-in of eleven questions that takes about ninety seconds on a phone.

What is the difference between the two options?+

Both cost R1,299 for the first month. The Blueprint is the whole programme delivered once, and then you are on your own. Performance Coaching releases it phase by phase, adjusts it every four weeks based on the check-ins, and sends you a written report each month.

Why is there a two month minimum on coaching?+

Because a single month is not long enough to produce anything worth judging. Two months gets an athlete through a full phase and into the next one, which is the first point at which progress is real rather than noise.

Can I cancel?+

Yes. The two month minimum is the commitment, and after that a month's notice ends it. Under the Consumer Protection Act you can also cancel a fixed term agreement early on twenty business days' notice against a reasonable penalty, and we are not going to argue with the Act.

Do you coach in person?+

No. Next Level Athlete is delivered entirely online. That is a deliberate choice, not a limitation, and it means an athlete anywhere can be coached properly rather than only those within driving distance of Cape Town.

Is my child too young?+

If they are 13 or older, no. Younger than that and we would rather they played more sport and lifted nothing, which costs you nothing and works better.

Will you tell my child to lose weight?+

No. We do not set goal weights for any athlete, we do not ask teenagers to count calories, and any reduction in food is capped well above what their body needs at rest. If an athlete raises weight or body image with us, we tell you.

How do I pay?+

Electronic funds transfer, against an invoice with the banking details on it. Monthly coaching is invoiced in advance. Send proof of payment on WhatsApp and we get going.

Know an athlete this suits?
